Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany in hospital after collapsing at training
The 40-year-old had been ill with a virus for about a week; reports in Germany say he is stable, and his assistants will take charge until further notice.

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was taken to hospital on Friday after collapsing while watching the club's reserve team train. Bayern said the 40-year-old was undergoing thorough examinations and would remain under medical care, and reports in Germany say he is in a stable condition.
The former Manchester City captain and Belgium defender had been unwell with a virus. He missed the news conference before Wednesday's Champions League match against Arsenal, which his assistant Aaron Danks took instead, but still stood on the touchline in heavy rain for the game itself. A German football journalist told BBC Radio 5 Live that Kompany had been suffering for about a week and had looked unwell since last Saturday's match against Leipzig.
"Vincent Kompany's health is our top priority. We at FC Bayern will do everything we can to ensure his speedy recovery," said sporting director Max Eberl, adding that Kompany would be given all the time he needs. The club said his coaching staff, in whom it has full confidence, will run training and matches until further notice.
Bayern's next game is at home to Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday. Kompany has coached the German champions since 2024, after leaving Burnley.
