'Glee' is coming back as Disney+ and Hulu order a reboot
Ryan Murphy has written the script for the new version of the musical series. No cast has been announced yet.

Glee, the musical comedy-drama about a high school show choir, is officially returning after Disney+ and Hulu ordered a reboot of the series, Deadline reported on Wednesday. It comes from 20th Television, which produced the original.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy had been talking about a return for months. "So many young people now watch it," he said in July, and less than two months later he revealed he had finished a script. Murphy created the show with Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk.
No casting was announced with the series order, though Murphy said last month he had been in touch with "around 10 of the original cast members". Two of the original stars, Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera, died in 2013 and 2020.
The original series ran for six seasons on Fox from 2009 to 2015 and won six Emmys. Set at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio, it followed the New Directions glee club, with a musical performance in every episode. It currently streams on Hulu, and Disney says its music draws around 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
