AnimaWings keeps all flights suspended until 15 November: what Romanian passengers need to check
Romanian airline AnimaWings has extended the temporary suspension of all its flights until 15 November inclusive, after the Bucharest Tribunal rejected its request to open insolvency proceedings on 14 October. Affected passengers should check their booking directly with the airline for refund or rebooking options and keep all payment and cancellation evidence.

Anyone holding an AnimaWings ticket for the coming weeks should check it now. The Romanian carrier has extended the temporary suspension of all its flights until 15 November 2026 inclusive, after the Bucharest Tribunal rejected the company's own request to open insolvency proceedings. The airline had initially announced a suspension of scheduled flights from the start of October, at first until 25 October; the new announcement adds a further three weeks.
The legal position is still moving. The tribunal rejected the airline's petition on 14 October but separated the creditors' petitions and set a hearing for them on 11 November. The decision can be appealed within seven days of notification. The creditors listed in the court decision include Banca Transilvania, ROMATSA, private companies, individuals and nine Romanian airports. AnimaWings says it is following the necessary legal steps, is looking for solutions to stabilise and resume operations, and will communicate new information once it is confirmed.
The company has said the problems began with repeated technical difficulties affecting its fleet, which in turn affected aircraft availability, its flight schedule and its finances. It filed for insolvency on 30 September, saying it wanted legal protection to continue operating, stabilise its activity and restructure its obligations.
For passengers, the practical steps are simple but worth doing in writing. Check the status of your specific booking in your AnimaWings account or directly with the airline rather than relying on the general suspension announcement, because the option offered can differ by booking. Ask explicitly whether you are being offered a full refund or transport on an alternative flight, note dates, names and reference numbers, and keep the booking confirmation, payment proof and any cancellation message.
It is also sensible not to book non-refundable hotels, transfers or onward tickets around an AnimaWings flight until your replacement travel is confirmed. If you bought the flight as part of a package, contact the tour operator as well as the airline. And because the court process continues into November, re-check your booking again closer to departure even if you receive an answer this week.
