Revolut outage knocks out app and card payments for users across Europe
Revolut customers in the UK, Ireland, Romania, France, Spain and Malta could not log in, move money or pay by card on Tuesday morning. The fintech says engineers are restoring service and that customers' money and data are safe.

Revolut, the London-based digital bank, was hit by a widespread outage on Tuesday morning, 20 October. Users reported that the app would not open, that logins and transfers failed and, unusually for an app outage, that their cards were declined in shops. Complaints came from the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Malta and Romania. Outage tracker StatusGator logged more than 4,000 user reports.
In a post on X, the company said it was 'experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple features, which may result in some services being inaccessible', and that its engineering team was working to restore full service as quickly as possible. The company also gave assurances, reported by Digi24, that customers' money and data were safe. Its public status page continued to show all systems as operational while users were reporting problems.
Revolut says it has more than 80 million personal customers and operates as a bank in more than 30 countries. The outage follows two data incidents last month that affected some of its customers, including a breach at DriveWealth, the US broker it uses for share trading.
